Larking Gowen to continue sponsorship for the New Wolsey theatre's creative learning progamme

The New Wolsey Theatre are pleased to confirm that Larking Gowen are to continue supporting the theatre’s busy Creative Learning department in their delivery of outreach, community and schools work and have now committed to supporting the theatre for the next 3 years.

Larking Gowen, a long-established and trusted accountancy firm based in Suffolk, Norfolk and Essex, will continue to support the delivery of workshops, schools performances, and Continued Professional Development workshops for teachers. The New Wolsey delivered over 31,000 opportunities for children and young people in 2016-2017, engaging with 176 schools, delivering 372 workshops to schools, and working with 200 young people weekly with their youth drama groups.

Sharyn Scott; Business Development Manager at Larking Gowen has said “We wanted to look at how our corporate membership could do something more tangible to support the local community. The New Wolsey presented us with the idea of linking our sponsorship to their schools workshop programme.

The programme which supports learning and development through creative expression and imaginative play for young people is delivered in schools where perhaps they would not ordinarily get the opportunity within their normal curriculum.

We are delighted with the way this programme supports learning and participation across schools in Suffolk. We would like to think that our support will have a lasting legacy with the young people that participate in one of the workshops, whether it be to explore a more creative career or hobby later in life or to give them more skills and confidence when starting out in their careers through enhanced employability skills developed at one of the workshops”

The next year of work delivered by the New Wolsey’s Creative Learning team will include a range of ways to get children and young people involved in the arts. From backstage tours to discovering how productions are made, to 6 week workshop projects which explore theatre as an art form, right through to raising aspirations workshops for students to develop their confidence be motivated and confident in school and in their futures.
